Tom Moylett and Joe Bongiorno
have been working hard to
ensure that 911 medical
emergencies on the tennis courts
will be efficiently and effectively
handled by our local fire and
rescue department. Inspector
Mike Rehill recommends the
following: 1 . If there is an emergency, use the 911 phone located near the men’s restroom at the west side of the Logo building. That phone is connected directly to the Beaufort County dispatcher, and no time is wasted in sending a rescue unit. By using that phone rather than a cell phone, there will be no mistake as to which rescue unit is being called. 2 . If a cell phone is used to call 911, be certain that you have reached the Beaufort service. If the dispatcher says Jasper County, ask to be transferred to Beaufort County. |
3 .
When calling 911 be brief. Say
“We have a medical emergency
on court x of the Sun City Tennis
Complex.” The x is the court number. Although the
dispatcher will keep you on the
phone and ask for additional
information, the first bit of
information starts their trucks
rolling. 4. The rescue squad is being provided with a site map of the tennis area, which will enable them to reach the courts from either the parking lot (for courts 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8) or from Sun City Lane (for courts 4, 9, 10, 11, 12). If possible, it would be most beneficial to have an additional person located near the parking area to provide direction to the rescue crew. 5. There is a defibrillator located in the fitness building. The fitness staff is trained on its use. |
